Jumbo the Gentleman :)

AnilKumble == Commitment & 200% all the time

Over the past two decades Jumbo Anil Kumble has been the bowling success for India after the aging Kapil retired. Anil is known to be the well behaved and level headed guy in the sport and considered to be the true ambassador for team india. Kumble has been the reflection of a true hard worker with great amount of determination and dedication, he has set a very high level of commitment for the youngsters to learn and practice the same.

Its a very tough decision to retire from the most celebrated profession in the country and that too when one is performing and leading the team with fair amount of success. Kudos to Anil for taking a decision and its meaning less to talk/write that he was forced to retire, In India no one can be forced to retire and if done will not escape the media so lets hail the bold decision and wish no one scrutinize the legends performance.

The great thing about Anil is, even though the country did not recognize his contributions initially because the people were obsessed with batting stars like Azharuddin and Sachin, he did not let that affect his performances. He just kept things simple and settled to basics all the time, even when the whole world of former spinners criticized him of not turning the ball, he never just changed his style of bowling and proved that line and length is more important and has been successful in all formats of the game. He has actually created a new style of bowling leg spin which has proved a success and we already see another person in Ajantha Mendis following the same. We can easily say that he is one bowler in the international context who has not been fined for verbal abuse or on-field/off field issue and has never showed his anger on the field, even though he is aggressive on the field.

Wish him all success in his future engagements.

man...atlast u did it.... this is not for kumble.. but for u vasu.. i was expecting this post from u ever since kumble announced his retirement.

coming to kumble.. he is a true legent.. very unconventional..the one who toiled his way to the top without any gifted talent unlike warne and muralidharan. Its good that he managed to come all the way inspite of the criticism that he does not spin the ball. had he heeded to his critics, we might not be talking abt him now. Often his efforts are overshadowed by his other naturally gifted colleagues like azhar, sachin, dravid, sehwag...etc. Still he kept on.. bowled.. bowled... and added on to his mighty figures. Hope some other spinner fills into his shoes soon and bhajji takes up the role of the senior spinner seamlessly.

Jumbo the real fighter - He is one of the cricketing legends India has ever produced. I think everyone in his generation would have criticized him for not turning the ball. But he fought all odds to be India's match winner for almost two decades. He is the best example of how one should play aggressive cricket without getting into any controversies. We wish you a very great farewell Jumbo, and we are always proud of you for what you have been to Indian cricket for all these years. Hope your service to Indian cricket continues in a different role.
